ABOUT US

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the entire world, Care Beyond Borders is a humble initiative to support healthcare professionals and first responders across India fighting this unprecedented crisis. Many front line healthcare workers and doctors in India do not have access to adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) while they selflessly and tirelessly work to keep the community safe.

 Care Beyond Borders was initiated by Dr.Arivarasan, assistant professor at UPMC and an alumni of Madras Medical College. It started off as a small scale and self-funded effort by a group of friends based in Pittsburgh, USA. Our team has quickly grown to form a reliable and productive network across the United States and India assessing demands at medical centers, procuring PPE/masks from manufacturers, arranging logistics for distribution on the ground, and delivering directly to the healthcare workers. The situation is constantly evolving and the needs are ever-increasing. We are doing our best to stay agile and come together as a community in an effort to lend a helping hand to our biggest heroes during this pandemic.

Phase 1 distributions CBB phase 1 campaign included deliveries of over 8500 masks (including over 1500 KN95 respirators, 1000 reusable surgical masks, and 6000 disposable 3-ply surgical masks) directly to doctors and healthcare personnel working at primary health centers, rural hospitals, government hospitals, cancer institutes, eye clinics, respiratory medicine units, children’s hospital, medical colleges, outpatient clinics, and university hospitals. CBB aids shortage of beds - need of the hour!

In light of increasing COVID-19 cases, most health care centers found themselves in a huge need of beds.  Adapting to the needs, CBB collaborated with Safe Corrugated Containers Private Limited - who designed innovative paper-based beds using proprietary paper honeycomb and corrugation technologies.  The bed weighs around 13 kg and can comfortably sleep patients weighing up to 150 Kg. It is designed to handle associated impact loads while transferring the patient on and off the bed. Currently, the beds have been dispatched to eight PHCs (primary health care centers) in Vadalur, Kurinjipadi, and Vridhachalam.

EveryMaskCounts: Donate to CBB's Phase-2 campaign to distribute over 15000 masks

On April 25 th , 2020 due to overwhelming requests for protective gear from healthcare personnel across India, CBB opened a portal for public donations with a target to distribute over 15000 masks.
